Graduating from Brighton University in Design and Printed Textiles, Kamran
has developed an individual style in his use of exotic skins. Inspired by the
shape and luxurious quality of an antique fan picked up on his travels in the
Far East, Kamran Sarwar has steadily built a line of exquisite bags that take
their cue from its pleated form. The graphic patterns and striking appliqué detailing,
derives from Sarwar's curiosity with forms and textures found in nature. Each
bag is handmade and stands alone as an individual art piece.
Perfecting the technique of box work in his signature fan shape, his designs
recapture a sense of post-war Paris chic. This singular approach has won him
acclaim from the studio of Louis Vuitton.
Sarwar's bags first gained recognition from the international fashion press
in 2000 when his bags were spotted on the arms of Natalie Imbruglia.
With interest being sparked on both sides of the Atlantic, this unique style
is proving to be an essential addition to the smart woman's wardrobe.
Sarwar who is also a visiting lecturer at Central Saint Martins and at the London
College of Fashion is no stranger to experimentation. |
